Everton snatched an important three points with a stunning late winner from Alex Iwobi in their Premier League meeting on Thursday night at Goodison Park.

Newcastle controlled the first 70 minutes but struggled to create scoring opportunities, so the game didn’t really get going until late in the second half.

The game lightened up after Everton was down to ten men as Allan was sent off for a hard, late challenge.

Newcastle came close to scoring on countless occasions, but Iwobi burst away in the 99th minute to earn a critical 1-0 victory against all odds.

The Frank Lampard club had been in horrible form recently and was on the verge of relegation, but Iwobi’s late winner gave them all three points and a chance to stay in the Premier League.

Everton remains in 17th place but has climbed three points clear of the relegation zone. Newcastle is remains 14th in the table.

When Lampard’s team faces Crystal Palace in the FA Cup quarter-finals, they will be seeking to continue their winning streak.

Newcastle, on the other hand, will be looking to redeem their heartbreaking defeat away from home against Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur on April 3rd.
