Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr has gone all out to defend his Combination of Odion Ighalo and Victor Osimhen in the attack against Cape Verde.
After trying it out for the first time in the 1-1 draw against the Blue Sharks, the German born believes pairing the former Manchester United forward and Napoli star man will need time to gel.
Recall that Rohr convinced Ighalo to come out of international retirement ahead of the game and the duo were paired for the first time during the encounter but failed to live up to expectations.
Ighalo was replaced in the second half, and although having a good game, he lost a chance to put Nigeria 2-1 ahead when he failed to connect with a cross from Jamilu Collins.
The Super Eagles Gaffer stated after the game that the combination will work, but it will take time because Ighalo has been out of the team for some time.
He stressed that he has already seen some fantastic link-up play between the two, indicating that better things are on the way in the future, beginning with the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
