Super Eagles of Nigeria winger Samuel Chukwueze and Swiss-Nigerian striker Noah Okafor could face an exit from AC Milan in the summer transfer window, Corriere dello Sport reports.
The duo have failed to meet expectations since their transfer to the Serie A side last summer, and the Italian giants may be looking to offload the players in the coming transfer window. Chukwueze and Okafor’s performance has been under a microscope since they joined.
They both have yet to impress the club and their recent performance against Monza has titled the Rossoneri’s eyes on them. Chukwueze and Okafor’s performances forced Stefano Pioli to substitute both players at half-time.
Chukwueze, who joined from Spanish La Liga side Villareal for €20 million, is yet to get his name on the scoresheet in 15 appearances in the Serie A this season and one in the Copa Italia. However, he scored two goals for Milan in the Champions League before they were left to compete in the Europa League.
The 24-year-old, who was part of the Super Eagles squad at the recently concluded 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire, also struggled to be instrumental for Nigeria at the tournament.
Okafor, on the other hand, who joined from RB Salzburg for €14 million, has only four goals from 17 appearances in the Seria A, while he has only managed to get one assist in four appearances on the European stage.
While other summer transfers like Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Tijjani Reijnders, and Christian Pulisic have impressed the club, Okafor and Chukwueze may be shown the exit should the Rossoneri decide to bolster their squad and offload ‘deadwood’.
