The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations is set to unfold in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026—marking the first-ever AFCON staged over the Christmas and New Year period.

For Super Eagles, this edition offers a fresh chance to chase continental glory after the heartbreak of February 2024.

AFCON 2025: Host nation, dates, key details

Nigeria’s journey begins under a unique backdrop. Morocco stepped in as hosts after CAF withdrew the rights from Guinea in 2022, turning to a nation with proven infrastructure and strong football heritage. The last time Morocco hosted was in 1988.

The initial plan to hold AFCON 2025 in the summer changed due to the expanded Club World Cup.

The dates were shifted, creating an unprecedented festive football window that will shape Nigeria’s road through the group stage and into the knockout rounds.

Stadiums for the Super Eagles’ matches

Nigeria’s group stage games will be played across Morocco’s elite stadiums:

Fez Stadium, Fez (45,000 capacity)

Prince Moulay Abdellah Olympic Annex Stadium, Rabat (21,000 capacity)

These arenas will host every whistle, tackle, and goal as the Super Eagles navigate Group C.
