Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been assigned to Group A of the Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations, Afcon 2023 qualifying round, which will be held in Ivory Coast.
The group also comprised Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau, and So Tomé and Principe.
For the draw, the Super Eagles were one of the 12 teams seeded in Pot 1. Senegal, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Cameroon, and Algeria were the other teams in Pot 1.
The teams were split into 12 four-team groups (Groups A through L), with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the championship in West Africa.

The qualifying rounds will kick off in June 2022.
Nigeria will be striving to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, which will be their 20th appearance.
Nigeria had a fantastic group stage performance in the 2021 AFCON, however they were defeated by Tunisia in the round of 16 by a single goal.
Meanwhile, on June 2, 2022, the Eagles will play the Ecuador National Team in an international friendly match in New Jersey, USA.
