Ghana drew 1-1 with Gabon at the Africa Cup of Nations on Friday, with a late goal from Jim Allevinah denying them three points.
In the Group C matchday two encounter at Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in the Cameroon capital, Yaounde, Andre Ayew fired the Black Stars ahead in the first half, but Gabon’s super sub’s second-half strike levelled the score.
Andre collected a Partey ball from midfield, spun around Anthony Oyono, and sent a low left-footed shot from outside the box past goalkeeper Jean Noel Amonome in the 17th minute, breaking the deadlock.
After being picked out on the break, Gabon’s tenacity was rewarded in the 88th minute when substitute Jim Allevinah blasted a shot from within the area past Wollacott.
The outcome puts the four-time winners in third place on the standings with one point, three behind second-placed Gabon, while Morocco leads the group after defeating Comoros 2-0 in the first game on Friday.
On Tuesday, the Black Stars will finish their group stage campaign against Comoros, while Gabon will face Morocco.
