U-23 African Cup of Nations: Morocco Wins Opener, Ghana Holds Strong

The competition to determine who will be crowned champion of U-23 African Cup of Nations and teams representing African continents in men’s football at the Paris 2024 Olympics began yesterday in Morocco.

The host team, Morocco, won their first match against Guinea with a score of 2-1 at Stade Prince Moulay Abdullah.

Guinea’s Algassime Bah scored an early goal in the first half, but Abdessamad Ezzalzouli equalized for Morocco in the second half.

In extra time, Ezzalzouli scored again, securing a 2-1 victory for Morocco. In another match, Ghana had a 3-0 lead but almost lost it.

They eventually won 3-2 against Congo Republic.

The first match of Group B ended in a goalless draw, while Mali won their match against Gabon with a score of 3-1, thanks to a late goal by Alhassane Thamboura.
