Though Victor Osimhen signed a one-year loan deal with Galatasaray, the Turkish giants are planning to secure the services of the Super Eagles’s striker for additional years.

Galatasaray’s vice president Ibrahim Hatipoğlu has expressed the club’s intention to keep Victor Osimhen in Turkey beyond his one-year loan deal.

Osimhen was heavily linked to Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Al-Ahli during the summer transfer window before completing a last-minute move to Galatasaray to resolve his uncertain career at Napoli. The Italian club had sidelined the Super Eagles’s striker from first-team action following the signing of Romelu Lukaku.

While several reports suggest Osimhen’s time at Galatasaray will be short-lived, Hatipoğlu said “Osimhen leaving in January is out of the question.”

“In fact, we are making plans to have Osimhen play next season as well. Osimhen is a Galatasaray player until June. Discussing this is aimed at changing the agenda, at spoiling the pleasure of watching Osimhen. The player shows how devoted he is to Galatasaray in every match.

“A person plays where he is happy. He has a contract with us until the end of the season. He is very happy to have come to Galatasaray. We should think about how he will be together with Osimhen in the following seasons. There is no need to discuss whether he will leave during the break.”

Osimhen has provided two assists in two Süper Lig appearances for Galatasaray since he joined the Turkish giants. The 25-year-old will be hoping to open his goal account when the Yellow-Reds face PAOK FC in the UEFA Europa League on Wednesday, September 25.
