With nine goals and five assists, Osimhen accounts for 40% of Galatasaray’s goal contributions this season. However, head coach Buruk insists his value extends far beyond the numbers.
Galatasaray head coach Orkan Buruk has praised Victor Osimhen for his all-around contributions since joining the Turkish club on loan in September.
Although it took some time for Osimhen to adapt to the demands of Turkish football, he has become a key figure for Galatasaray. The 25-year-old has scored nine goals and provided five assists in 12 matches across the Süper Lig and Europa League.
Buruk emphasised that Osimhen’s impact goes beyond goal contributions, highlighting his selfless play and team-first mentality.
“His first characteristic is that he plays for the team, more than goals and assists. He makes an effort for the team,” Buruk said.
“Osimhen works tirelessly, scores, assists, and is in excellent form. He contributes significantly both in Turkey and in Europe. His willingness to create scoring opportunities for his teammates is incredibly valuable. When we adopt this mentality as a team, no one can stand in Galatasaray’s way.”
Meanwhile, uncertainty over Osimhen’s future has been resolved. According to Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek, the Nigerian striker will remain in Turkey for the entirety of the 2024/25 season.
“He is our player this season. The clause for him to leave mid-season is very challenging,” Özbek told A Spor.
“According to our agreement, he will stay until the end of the season. At that point, the decision is his if he wants to continue with Galatasaray, he can.”
