Kelechi Iheanacho put up a man-of-the-match performance alongside compatriot Ademola Lookman to help Leicester City secure a 2-0 win over Championship side Millwall in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night.
The 24-year-old grabbed a goal and assist to seal Leicester’s passage to the next round of Carabao Cup in the 88th minute.
The visitors struggled to break Millwall’s defence before Ademola Lookman latched on to a pass from the senior man to break the deadlock just five minutes into the second half.
With two minutes left on the clock, the Super Eagles forward sealed the victory and passage to the next round for Leicester with a left footed shot from the right side of the box to the top right corner.
The 23-year-old opened his goal account on his fourth appearance for Leicester since a loan move from RB Leipzig when Iheanacho’s shot deflected into his path and he made no mistake to slot the ball into the top corner.
Iheanacho’s goal in the EFL Cup takes his tally to ?? ????? in all competitions in 2021.
