Nigerian international, Chidozie Awaziem has formally signed a season-long loan with HNK Hajduk Split in Croatia from Boavista.

According to the agreement Hajduk and Boavista accepted, the Super Eagles’ defender will be on a one-year loan with the option to buy him permanently at the end of the season.

In Hajduk, Chidozie Awaziem will wear jersey number 25, continuing a football career that he began with El-Kanemi and later transferred to the Porto football academy in 2014.

Awaziem decided to sign with HNK Hajduk Split in order to get regular playing time and get back into shape.

Shortly after being unveiled, the Super Eagles defender expressed his happiness at joining the Croatian club.

I know that Split is a beautiful city and that the fans are very passionate and love football. I also like football, so we are very similar in that. I came to Split to give my best and to fulfill our goals,” Awaziem said.

At the beginning of his senior career, the 25-year-old played more than 60 times for Porto’s Team B and 10 times with the first team.

Awaziem was on loan from 2017 until 2021, enjoying hours with the Spanish Segunda Liga club Leganes, Turkish club Rizespor, and French team Nantes.

After completing the last season on loan with the Portuguese side, the center-back ended up signing for Boavista in 2021.

During the previous season, he was on loan to the Turkish club Alanyaspor. Over the course of that time, he played consistently for the club and made over 20 appearances for the Super Eagles.
