Calvin Bassey has had a successful start to his Ajax career in the Eredivisie, contributing an assist in a strong performance to help his club romp to a commanding home victory on Saturday.
Calvin Bassey earned his first league assist as Ajax defeated Cambuur 4-0 in the Eredivisie on Saturday at the Amsterdam ArenA.
Bassey has appeared three times for the Dutch champions in league matches since his move in the summer from Rangers.
After 35 minutes, ex-Tottenham Hotspur star Steven Bergwijn scored the first goal, and after 40 minutes, he added the second.
In the 53rd minute, Ajax’s third goal was scored by Devyne Rensch to increase their commanding lead.
After 64 minutes, the 22-year-old Nigerian defender made an outstanding assist to Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus, who later made it 4-0.
In the Dutch top division so far, Ajax has won five straight games. With 15 points, the Amsterdam club leads Feyenoord by two points at the top of the standings.
In their upcoming home UEFA Champions League group stage match against Scottish Champions – Rangers on Wednesday, Calvin Bassey and his Ajax colleagues will now channel their impressive form to secure their first win.
