Its been an exceptional performance week in week out from the Nigerian Midfielder – Alex Iwobi, who was impressively involved in Everton’s 3-0 win over Crystal Palace.
The Frank Lampard team faced Crystal Palace at Goodison for the first time since the crazy 3-2 comeback that secured their Premier League survival.
Calvert-Lewin – the match winner – started this time and he also managed to score against Palace yet again, but this time around, his first goal of the season.
A brilliant goal from Calvert-Lewin, who started by winning the ball back in the final third. Onana plays it to Iwobi who then finds the Everton number nine man. He then knocks it around Guehi and slots it into the bottom corner.
Gordon made it 2-0 for the home side in 63rd minute, before Alex grabbed his second assist of the game as he collected McNeil’s pass and then offloads back to the winger to fire home from close range, barely six minutes before final whistle.
Alex Iwobi has now provided five assists in the Premier League this season. Only Kevin De Bruyne has more.
Only Kevin De Bruyne (20) has also created more chances from open play from midfielders than Alex Iwobi (19) in the Premier League this season.
Alex Iwobi is now directly responsible for 7 out of Everton’s last 8 goals across all competitions. One goal and six assists. Since the league Cup game vs Fleetwood Town on August 23, this has been the story of the Super Eagles man.
At the other end, the Eagles were completely silent and unable to find their rhythm in the final third, disappointing Patrick Vieira. The Toffees secured the three points, a crucial one.
