The Frank Lampard team won their first Premier League game of the year by defeating West Ham 1-0 thanks to an assist from Everton sensation Alex Iwobi, who has been in exceptional form all season.
In yet another outstanding effort, the Super Eagles midfielder assisted in Everton’s first league victory of the year.
The 26-year-old’s excellent display at Goodison Park earned him the player of the match award and the highest rating of 8.2 in their close victory over David Moyes’ club.
The game took some time to start, and neither team posed much of a threat in the first half.
Everton mounted a breakaway right away after the break, and Maupay scored his first Toffees goal by smashing a shot into the near post.
Wedged between three West Ham players, Iwobi slid the ball into him, but he managed to keep possession of it as he turned and shot.
Fabianski attempted to save it but was unsuccessful as the ball trickled into the bottom corner for Maupay’s first Everton goal.
Iwobi was also in a challenging situation with the ball, but he kept his composure and set up Maupay just inside the area.

West Ham made an effort to tie the score, but they were powerless as substitute Benrahma could only curl a shot that struck the post and traveled toward the Everton goal.
After the international break, Everton will travel to Southampton in search of more wins after they moved up to 13th place in the standings.
Due to their recent league losses, West Ham is still operating in a risky situation. Next, they have a home game against Wolves.
