Super Eagles legends Leon Balogun and Yakubu Aiyegbeni, alongside fans, have sent in their well wishes to Victor Boniface who is the latest to leave Nigeria’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) pre-tournament training camp in Abu Dhabi.
The wishes started pouring in after Boniface confirmed his exit from the Super Eagles camp on Monday which meant he will not be donning Nigeria’s colours at the AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire.
Football411 previously reported that Boniface picked up an injury at the pre-tournament camp and was not listed in the squad that faced Guinea in Nigeria’s 2-0 loss on Monday. That was when the suspicions regarding his fitness came into question.
The Bayer Leverkusen star in a post on his Instagram page wrote, “Good luck guys….. Wish you guys all the best at Afcon ❤️❤️”

Balogun of Rangers, who paired with William Troost-Ekong in the Super Eagles defence with both fondly called the Oyinbo Wall, wrote in the comment, “Speedy recovery bro 🙏🏽”.
Aiyegbeni, one of the Super Eagles’ highest goalscorers ever also sent in his wishes hoping that the lethal Leverkusen striker would return to duty soon. “Get back soon ⚽️” Aiyegbeni wrote.
Fans who expected to enjoy Boniface’s active participation on the pitch, alongside Victor Osimhen, and his off-pitch witty captions on social media also sent in their wishes.
Boniface is expected to be sidelined for six weeks. He will not be available for Nigeria at the AFCON and will have to support Xabi Alonso’s men from the stands as they push to stay atop the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich on their tail.
