Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has issued a rallying call to his charges, asking them to bounce back strongly from their 6-0 defeat to Chelsea.
Wenger’s 1,000th game in charge of the Gunners is not one he will want to remember as his troops were hammered by a rampant Chelsea outfit on Saturday.
The result leaves the North London outfit in fourth place on the league table, seven points adrift of the Blues who are leading the way.
In the wake of the result, Wenger has challenged his players to make a statement and put in a top performance in their next fixture against Swansea on Tuesday.
“What is important is to give a response on Tuesday night and that is it. I don’t believe it is the time to talk too much about what went wrong,” said the Frenchman.
“The players are deeply disappointed as we all are, but now I think let us prepare for the next game,” he added.
The Gunners cannot afford another slip up if they are to have any hope of winning the league, but Wenger is determined not to think to far ahead.
“We can win the next game, so that is what we have to focus on now and give a strong response,” he asserted.
“We are in a situation now where after such a disappointment that the next game becomes vital.”
