Transfer zone: Claudio Marchisio pondering Porto move

Marchisio to choose between Porto and Zenit

After leaving Juventus, free agent Claudio Marchisio will choose between continuing his career at Porto or Zenit St. Petersburg, according to Tuttosport.

The Italian midfielder had spent his entire career at Juventus but was released from his contract and is on the look-out for a new club.

Tuttosport claim Zenit, who have a recent history of signing Italian players and managers are a tempting option for Marchisio, but he is also keen on Porto, primarily due to their involvement in the Champions League — and is due to meet the club’s directors.

Celtic reject Lyon offer for Dembele

Celtic have rejected a “significant” offer from Lyon for forward Moussa Dembele, the Independent reports.

The report states that Dembele has already agreed personal terms with the historic French club, although Celtic and Lyon remain some way apart in their valuation of the PSG academy product.

Meanwhile, the seven-time-defending Scottish champions are reportedly investigating potential alternatives should they lose their No. 9, and the Independent writes that they could take promising 20-year-old Chelsea striker and twice-capped England international Tammy Abraham on loan.

United boss Jose Mourinho has grown annoyed by his agent Jorge Mendes’ willingness to broker previous deals with City, according to the report, and will now look to beat his crosstown rivals to a £60 million deal in January.

Celtic are within spitting distance of tying up a loan for the young Croatian centre-back, who joined the Foxes from Dinamo Zagreb in a £13m deal earlier this month.

The 21-year-old is expected to make the switch before the close of the transfer window Friday to help bolster Brendan Rodgers’ options in the middle of his back line.
