Top5 Bpl flop signings of the season

With the sun already set on the electrifying 2014/2015 Barclays Premier league season, it’s a known fact that The season has been won and lost, top four spot has been decided and as well the relegated teams already preparing for life in the championship.

Millions of pounds was shelled out on getting new class players ; some shone like lightening stars while some players performance seem to grow like a mustard seed(am sure we all cannot wait that long to see them perform, can we?) and as they say, for every Alexis Sanchez you buy ,theres always going to be a Balotelli.

However, football411 would like to present our top five flops of the Premier League season:

5 DEJAN LOVREN(£20m):

Who clipped the wings of Lovren?
The former Southampton centre-back was signed by Liverpool for a £20m fee, but has looked a shadow of rock of Gibraltar that dominated attackers during his time at St
Mary’s racking up 15 clean sheets in the league last term, a tally only three teams were able to better.

The saviour who was bought to strengthen the back line of Liverpool seem to worsen situation of things as he consistently was producing grade A howlers after howlers.

Rodgers had to relegate to Croatian to the bench, in favour of a back three featuring Martin Skrtel midfielder Emre Can and Mamadou Sakho.

4 ANGEL DI MARIA(£59.7m) :

Although he started the season with a lot of enthusiasm, showed flashes of greatness for his new side and was beginning to show like a player that packed a punch however, somewhere along the season, the demands of the BPL quenched his burning fire and his performances has been no where near what you expect from a player that commands such a huge fee.
Losing your shirt to Ashley Young summarises how bad a season he had.

3 MARIO BALOTELLI (£16m):

Judging by his performance last season, you can safely say the only thing Super Balotelli possesses is his hot temper.

The Italian international moved to Liverpool from AC Milan for a fee £16m and it was hoped he would fill in the big boots of the departed cult hero, Luiz Suarez and with Sturridge also injured, the 24-year old was seen as the man to fire the merseysiders to glory. But, Balotelli had other plans as he could only muster 1bpl goal all season making it over 161 players that scored more goals than the Italian in the 2014/2015 season including 23 defenders.

For a player with lots of potential,he has consistently failed to live up to billing causing him to be tossed around to various clubs for this reason and with his recent performance at his current club, I think the journey man’s final destination doesn’t seem like it’s going to end at Liverpool. I hope am wrong.

ELIAQUIM MANGALA (£42m) :

you have to say he’s arguably the most expensive centre halve flop of the season.

After commanding such a mammoth fee from Porto, and with the rock of Gibraltar, captain of the side, Vincent Kompany expected to partner with him in the heart of defence, it’s only normal to expect a great showing from the French international. However, the 24-year old has really struggled to make a mark in the Premier league this past season making chains of high profile gaffs all season long and it appears his confidence seem to get sucked out him anytime he touches the ball anytime he duns a City Jersey

1 RADAMEL FALCAO (loan) :

Where did it all go wrong for the Columbian goal getter? He turned From one of the most deadliest striker in the world to a harmless dove.

Radamel Falcao is arguably the biggest flop so far, Scoring just one goal in as many matches.

The signing of Falcao felt like a great success story for the Red devils after he arrived at Manchester, although on loan after midnight on deadline day. However, that seems to be the only positive story the 28-year old could provide for United as he spent most of the season lounging on the substitute bench.
