African Champions Nigeria,on Monday forced 2006 World Cup winners Italy to a 2-2 draw┬á in a build up game ahead of the┬á world cup next year.
Coach Stephen Keshi made four changes from the side that started against Ethiopia on Saturday. The Line up included 3 players for the local league as keshi continues to give home based players a chance at the big stage.
The game which was played at a very high temple┬á saw Giuseppe Rossi┬á put the Italians ahead on the 12th minute.
Two goals in 4 minutes from Bright Dike and Shola Ameobi gave the Eagles a surprise 2-1 lead going into the 2nd break.
On┬á resumption of play in the 2nd half, Emanuele Giaccherini scored to level scores for the Italians.Both sides had chances to win the game but had to settle for a 2-2 draw.
Nigeria┬á carry the hope of the continent to┬á next year’s World Cup and will hope to build on tonight’s performance as they attempt to surpass the achievements of Cameroon,Senegal and Ghana who reached the quarter finals in 1990,2002 and 2010 respectively.
