Super Eagles Diary: The Journey Of a World Cup Bound Team.

In the first round of preparations for the world cup, football411.net was at the Hive stadium (Barnet fc) to feel the athmosphere in the eagles camp as they prepare to face Serbia on Tuesday night.

The Hive is located on the outskirts of Northwest london, the home of Barnet football club.

The Super Eagles arrived sometime around 3:30pm, greeted by a host of journalists. You could smell the confidence in the air as they moved towards their first point of action; a photoshoot.

Done with the photoshoot, it was time for some training. Uzoho really looked sharp in training so was Ikechukwu Ezenwa, who could still do better though.
The doors were open to journalists for 30mins, which after the training became a closed session.

While this was going on, the Serbians had their press conference. Which gave us the opportunity to ask the coach why he opted to play Nigeria. The coach explained that Nigeria is a quality side, with lots of confidence and a team on the rise, which would provide a very good test for his team.

Then came the Super Eagles press conference, which was a lively one.

Gernot Rohr stressed the point that the reason for friendlies is for the coach to experiment with the team and it is not necessarily about winning.

Talking about Argentina at the world cup, Gernot rohr feels Argentina might not need the game when they eventually face off with Nigeria, and Messi might just be rested, this statement lit up the room as everyone bust into fits of laughter.

The recuperating Carl ikeme was also talked about, Rohr said he tried inviting him for the game, not in a playing capacity obviously, but just to be around the team. He’s hoping he would be with the team for the England game.

All in all it was a positive athmosphere in camp, and the players appear relaxed and ready for the challenge ahead against the Serbians

Football411.net will be live at game vs Serbia and also at the subsequent friendly games bringing you exclusives.
