Another late drama for Tottenham in the Champions League as they conceded late to draw 2-2 with PSV in group B.
The result leaves both teams on just one point and with little hope of advancing out of the group stage with Barcelona and Inter Milan already on six points ahead of their match later on Wednesday.
Spurs were nearly in front twice just after 15 minutes through Harry Kane, who hit the crossbar with a header and saw a nice snapshot saved by PSV keeper Jeroen Zoet.
PSV took the lead against the run of play in the 29th minute when Hirving Lozano picked Toby Alderweireld’s pocket and was in on goal where his shot from close range was deflected into the net by the chasing Belgium international.
Tottenham were then the benefactors of a deflection as Lucas Moura’s shot from a Kieran Trippier cross bounced off a PSV defender over Zoet to make it 1-1 at half-time.
Harry Kane headed the visitors in front just 10 minutes into the second half, nodding home a pinpoint cross from Christian Eriksen to give Tottenham their first lead of the match.
Spurs pushed hard for a third, but PSV were handed a lifeline in the 79th minute when Hugo Lloris was shown a straight red card for a reckless tackle on Lozano, who had broken free on goal.
Eight minutes later PSV were level when Luuk de Jong redirected a mis-hit Pablo Rosario volley past substitute keeper Michel Vorm to even the score at 2-2 and put a serious dent in Tottenham’s hopes of reaching the round of 16.
The two sides meet again in two weeks in London, when Tottenham host the return fixture on Nov. 6.
