Schalke 04 have suspended talks with Klaas Jan Huntelaar over a new contract.
Huntelaar has been linked with a move away from Schalke at the end of the season when his contract ends, with Liverpool among those interested.
“We have decided that until December we will not make any more calls and weÔÇÖll await developments”, explained Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt to Sport1.
“That is the wish of the player and I agree with it. I feel that Klaas-Jan is, at the moment, not able to decide.”
“I have the feeling that Klaas-Jan is not ready to make a decision on his future at the moment. We want to give him the time he needs to make a well-thought decision.
“My goal is to convince him to stay with Schalke. We will re-open talks either in December or January. I demand a quick decision at that point, though.”
Huntelaar, 29, has scored five goals in 10 official appearances for Schalke this term.
