Belgium boss Marc Wilmots believes Divock Origi made the right decision in postponing his move to Liverpool.
Origi joined Liverpool this summer for £10m, but the striker was immediately sent back to Lille on loan for the season.
However, with Daniel Sturridge now injured, some have argued that Origi should have remained at Anfield in order to add depth to the squad.
But Wilmots believes that the 19-year-old, who impressed for Lille at the weekend, was right to spend another season in Ligue 1 before making the move to England.
“I was afraid that at a big club he would not play as much. There [at Lille] he may develop quietly,” Wilmots told L’Equipe.
“When he came into the national team, no one knew him. But I had great feedback on his mentality and his determination for someone of 19years old, when he moved up front.
“For him, the World Cup changed his situation. But I intend to keep his feet on the ground.”
