NPFL: 3SC 2-0 Gombe United

Shooting Stars finally broke a two-season jinx of not beating Gombe United at home when they won 2-0 at the Adamasingba Stadium on Sunday.

Oluyole warlords opened scoring in the 17th minute through Tony Edjomarigwe, who scored at Gombe United last season.

Osagona Ighodalor made it two in the 33rd minute thanks to an assist by Mutiu Adegoke.

It would have been a harvest of goals 3SC media officer Jubril Arowolo told but for good defending and poor marksmanship.

“We finally break the jinx of not beating them here in Ibadan. It would have been a massacre, but they defended well and we lost many chances,ÔÇØ he said.

ÔÇ£Gbolahan Salami was the man of the match as he was everywhere on the pitch and gave assists for both goals.”

In Lafia, El Kanemi Warriors held hosts Nasarawa United to a barren draw.

Sunshine Stars returned to Akure Township Stadium after playing for several seasons at the Ijebu-Ode Stadium with a 1-0 victory over Kaduna united courtesy of a first-half Ajani ibrahim strike.

The petit winger who found it hard to get goals last season told he hopes for a better goals return in the new season.

┬á”I feel good about my goal. This was our first game and I have a goal already. I hope for a better season,” Ajani told

In other matches played on Sunday, Bayelsa pipped visiting Lobi Stars 1-0, Akwa United were 1-0 winners over Dolphins and Sharks stopped Warri Wolves 2-1.

Coach Ladan Bosso thus began life at Bayelsa United with victory against one of the most outstanding teams of the past season.

“It was a hard-earned victory. We fought real hard for it. Like I said before the season began never underrate any team in the league. I am happy we started well with a victory,” an elated Bosso stated.

Lobi coach Ernest Jupiter said they were unlucky to let in a ÔÇ£cheeky goalÔÇØ while saluting the heroics of goalkeeper Niyi Fabiyi of Bayelsa.

The Ilorin derby between Kwara United and ABS FC ended scoreless.
