Nigerian international Obafemi Martins is set for a return to the English Premier League.
Reports in England suggest that West Ham United are preparing to make a move for Martins in January.
The Hammers lie just a place above the relegation spot  and are desperate to sign a new striker as soon as the transfer window re-opens.
If the move materializes it would be Martins 3rd spell in the EPL.
Current West Ham boss Sam Allardyce managed him at Newcastle where he made 88 appearances scoring 22 goals between 2006 and 2009.
In 2011 he returned to the EPL on loan from Rubin Kazan scoring the winning goal as Birmingham City beat Arsenal to win the 2011 Carling Cup.
The 29-year old has not given up on hopes of representing Nigeria in the 2014 world cup and will benefit from a short-term loan at West Ham during the off-season in America.
Obafemi ┬áMartins is 4th in the list of Nigeria’s all time highest goal scorers with 18 goals in 39 appearances for the Super Eagles.
