Martino takes all the Blame for Barca Loss

Barcelona endured another miserable trip to the Anoeta on Saturday as Real Sociedad produced a brilliant team display to beat the under-par Catalan giants 3-1.

The Basque outfit, went ahead in the 32nd minute when Gorka Elustondo’s header found the net via the shoulder of visiting defender Alex Song.

Argentine international,Lionel Messi put Barcelona back on level terms with a fine interplay with his team mates at the edge of the box 18 but his goal was not enough as Barca were made to pay for their jittery defence with two quick goals from Real Sociedad to make the score 3-1.

Martino said that, “having three forwards implies that we wouldn’t be playing with four midfielders.

“I thought that it was better to line up a double pivot, with Song.”

“Real deserved to win,” Martino said.
“I didn’t make the correct reading of the game. The decision not to change was also a mistake.”

“We have to move forward,” says Gerardo Martino in a press conference after FC Barcelona’s 3-1 defeat to Real Sociedad.
