Marco Reus to Real Madrid

Borussia Dortmund winger Marco Reus has agreed to join Real Madrid, striking a killer blow to Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona’s hopes of signing the Germany international.

According to reports in Spain, Reus will sign a five-year contract with the recently-crowned world champions after agreeing to join Carlo Ancelotti’s star-studded squad.

The 25-year-old is now expected to complete a move to the Bernabeu once Real Madrid submit a release clause-triggering £20 million offer to Borussia Dortmund.

Reus was expected to hold out for a dream move to Barcelona, who are banned from signing any new players until January 2016. But Dortmund’s dreadful start to the 2014-15 campaign may have been a factor in the player’s decision to seek a move elsewhere in January.

BVB are currently second to bottom of the Bundesliga table, having lost 10 of their opening 17 matches, and appear to be in real danger of losing more key players – not to mention their influential manager, Jurgen Klopp – before the start of next season.
