Lille vs Marseille: Relief for Garde

1213_UK_L1_Garde_LacazetteOlympique Lyonnais coach R├®mi Garde was relieved to see his team end their losing streak, while Lille coach Rudi Garcia insisted his team deserved all three points against OM.┬á

Rudi Garcia (Lille coach):┬á“The result doesn’t make sense. I am disappointed for the players. What can I say? We just came up against a fantastic goalkeeper, a French international goalkeeper. He allowed Marseille to come away with a point. We can only say that, when you can’t win a match, like tonight because of (Steve) Mandanda, it is good to make sure you don’t lose. There is still everything to play for. There are six matches left and 18 points to play for, which is enough to get into Europe. But we wanted to win and we deserved to do so.”

├ëlie Baup (Marseille coach):┬á“We got a point and kept a clean sheet, and we continue to work to try and stay on the podium. We had difficult moments tonight but we rode the storm. Mandanda was extraordinary and proved that he is the best goalkeeper in Ligue 1. He is our captain and an important player for our club. Unfortunately we didn’t have enough quality when it came to bringing the ball forward. Lille have been on a great run and we all closely watched their last home game against Lorient. They have an incredible number of players who move forward. We knew we couldn’t afford to lose possession high up the field and be caught on the break.”
