Bayern Munich captain, Philip Lahm has undergone a successful operation on his fractured knee and would be back to full fitness in three months time, his club announced on Thursday.
The 31-year old fractured his right ankle during the teams training session on Tuesday and was diagnosed by the club’s chief medical officer Dr Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt.
“He will then need to protect the leg for several weeks before starting his rehabilitation.”
The Bavarians are already without injured midfielders Thiago Alcantara and Javi Martinez as well as David Alaba, Holger Badstuber and forward Claudio Pizarro. Substitute goalkeepers Pepe Reina and Tom Starke are also sidelined.
