Manchester City ‘s all-time leading goalscorer Sergio Aguero has extended his contract with the club until 2021, when he will be 33.
His deal was set to expire in 2020, but now the Argentine will stay at the Etihad stadium for another season.
At the end of his time with the Blues , Aguero will return home to Argentina to play for his boyhood club Independiente.
City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain praised the forward.
“We are delighted that Sergio is extending his stay at
Manchester City ,” he told the club’s official media.
“He has been so important to this club since his arrival in 2011 and he remains at the forefront of what we are want to achieve in the coming years.”
The club also shared a video on Twitter , where Lionel Messi described his compatriot and talked about the great relationship that the duo have with one another.
