Mateo Kovacic is just a step away from joining Chelsea on loan from Real Madrid for the coming campaign.
With the player and both clubs soon set to strike an agreement after negotiations, it is one that will satisfy all parties.
The Croatian will receive the playing time he desperately craves, Chelsea will be reinforced in midfield with a fantastic footballer and Madrid will still be in control of a player who they have great faith in.
The deal was struck early on Tuesday after Kovacic took an inflexible position that he would no longer train with Los Blancos in a bid to force through a move.
Kovacic made it clear that he would not go to Valdebebas
until they told him that the club had managed to secure the happy ending that he hoped for.
Upon his arrival on Tuesday, the club had the news that he wanted and the midfielder decided to train alone on a small field at the club’s complex, under no instruction from any of the club’s coaching staff.
The agreement between the clubs will be announced in the next few hours and Kovacic will soon depart for London to embark on his new adventure.
