Wes Brown former United team-mate of Ronaldo sees similarities in Eden Hazard’s flirtation with Real Madrid to when Cristiano Ronaldo joined the Liga giants.
Chelsea star Hazard was linked with a move to the Bernabeu during the summer, having expressed a desire to play there.
While the Blues have managed to keep hold of their main man, Hazard has not hidden the fact that playing for Real has been a dream of his since he was a child.
The forward ruled out leaving in January, but playing in Spain remains a goal of his . Chelsea, understandably, are keen to offer him a bumper new contract.
Brown was a team-mate of Ronaldo’s at Man United and the pair won many trophies together before Ronaldo eventually got his dream move to Real in 2009.
You know what, it’s the same situation as Cristiano Ronaldo when he was at United,” Brown told the Express
“Between the lads in the dressing room, [we’d ask him]: ‘Who’s your favourite club?’ And he’d say: ‘I’ve always wanted to play for Real Madrid.’
“He’s doing the best that he can and it’s just a boyhood dream he’s always had – it was the same with Ronaldo.
“You ask any United player or fan if he disrespected the club, they’d say: ‘Completely not.’ It’s just one of his dreams.”
Hazard’s start to the season, which sees him top the goal charts with seven goals in eight games, has seen him win the Player of the Month award for September.
