Nigeria international Gabriel Reuben was sent off as Kilmarnock lost 4-1 to Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday.
Reuben was making his home debut for Kilmarnock haven only resolved his transfer dispute few weeks back.
He was given the marching orders in the 23rd minute for a Second bookable offence.
Kilmarnock manager Allan Johnston decribed the referee’s decision to send Reuben off as “harsh”.
“It was always going to be a hard game against a confident United but I didn’t think there was much in the game before the sending-off.
“The first booking was harsh and I think perhaps the referee was too keen to get his cards out. I can’t complain about Gabriel’s second booking but going down to 10 men is frustrating and spoils the game for everyone.
“I asked the ref (Euan Norris) about the double booking and also at 1-0 when the ball hit a United player’s hand. He said it was unintentional, but both of them were big decisions.”
Kilmarnock also has former Nigerian youth International Rabiu Ibrahim on their pay roll.
