Barcelona enjoyed a winning start to their 2018/19 campaign thanks to a wonderful 79th minute strike from Ousmane Dembele , after Pablo Sarabia and
Gerard Pique had both scored in the first half.
Sevilla were the ones who kicked the scoreboard of the Stade de Tanger in Morocco into life, as Sarabia finished well in the ninth minute when played through on goal.
His strike was initially flagged for onside, but VAR was consulted and the goal was eventually awarded.
Barcelona took some time to respond, but did manage to go into the break level, as Pique fired into an empty net in the 42nd minute after a Lionel Messi freekick had rebounded off the post.
Sevilla struck the woodwork too in the second half, via a
Franco Vazquez header, before Dembele won the encounter for his side with an inspired long-range blast past Sevilla goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik , who had been proving tough to beat.
A last minute penalty award gave the Andalusian side a chance to respond, but Marc-Andre ter Stegen saved a timid Wissam Ben Yedder shot to help the Blaugrana to victory.
