Cristiano Ronaldo Accepts Plea Deal In Tax Fraud Case

Juventus striker,Cristiano Ronaldo, on Tuesday, accepted a plea deal with Spanish prosecutors for tax evasion case and has agreed to cough out a few of €18.8m.

The 33 year old will also be avoiding the 23-month prison sentence upon agreeing with a deal. He made a court appearance that lasted only about 15 minutes as he had to sign off on the previously settled agreement by paying a fine of €18.8 million and accepting a suspended jail sentence.

Ronaldo walked out of the court along with his Spanish fiancee Georgina Rodriguez, signed a few autographs and posed for selfies and left in a black van.

The Portuguese icon had to only sign a previously settled agreement by which he will not have to spend even a single day in prison. Under Spanish law, for first-time offenders, sentences of up to two years are not enforced.

The charges stem from his nine years at Real, who he left last summer.

Prosecutors accused him of four counts of tax fraud from 2011-14 worth €14.7m and using shell companies outside Spain to hide around €28.4m made from image rights.
