Exclusive: My Father wanted school ahead of Football : Anthony Ujah

Nigeria and Werder Bremen striker Anthony Ujah says his father wanted him to go school ahead of football because every member of the family had gone to the University.

But he wanted to pursue his football dreams.”My father gave me one condition and that was to get a proffesional contract in 6 months or i forget about football comletely and pursue my education.To God be the glory i got my first professional contract and the rest is history. “ Ujah told Oma Akatugba during an Interview in Bremen Germany.

Anthony Ujah started his football career with with FC Abuja in 2005 before moving to Warri wolves in 2009.He cut his proffesional teeth with Lillestrøm in Norway before moving to the Bindesliga to join FSV Mainz 05 in 2011 .On the last day of the summer  2012 transfer window, Ujah signed a season-loan to 1. FC Köln.After scoring 21 goals in 66 appearances for FC Köln he signed for SV Werder Bremen in the summer of 2015.

Ujah who is also a member of the super Eagles revealed that he misses his family in Nigeria a lot which is why he regualrly invites his parents and siblings to Germany to spend some quality time with him .He talked about is love for Nigerian music pouring massive encomium on 2face Idibia who incidentaly hails from the same Town of Otukpo in Benue State.”2face is a legend and has been a great source of inspiration  for my self and many young Nigerians especially those  who also hail from Benue State and I must say he has played a great role in putting Nigerian Music on the global map”Ujah echoed.

Anthony Ujah is also a Nigerian International but is yet to stamp his authority on a Super Eagles shirt haven failed to score in his first game under Sunday Oliseh .He is yet to get a recall since playing for Nigeria against Tnazania despite being in very good form with Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga.
