Following a 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, the Blues sit top of the pile after 14 games with 36 points, having won 11 of those matches and yet to lose one.
And Allardyce, whose Hammers side currently sit fifth, 12 points off the pace, reckons, despite the resurgent form of Manchester City, the only thing that can stop Jose Mourinho’s Blues claiming the trophy is a spate of injuries to key stars.
He told sources: “Even though Manchester City are firing on all cylinders again I still think the distance Chelsea have put between them, and the fact that they’ve got a manager who knows how, [means] I think it will be their title this year.
“The only way I can see them slipping up in a game or two is if they get some injuries.
“They haven’t incurred many injuries in the squad at the moment but I think if they got some injuries to key players that may dent their progress a little bit, but I can’t really see anyone catching them.”
