Harry Redknapp has ruled out the possibility of Liverpool target Charlie Austin leaving Queens Park Rangers in January.

The Hoops forward has been the subject of speculation linking him with a move away from Loftus Road in recent weeks after the 25-year-old took his tally to 11 top-flight goals.

However, QPR manager Redknapp, whose side are 16th in the Premier League table, is adamant that Austin’s long-term future is at the west London side.

“Charlie’s got 18 months left. He’s not going anywhere in January. We want to keep him here long term but it’s up to Charlie,” Redknapp is quoted as saying.

“Once he gets into the last year of his contract then it’s a different proposition but we’ve all got to wait and see.

“We’ve got to concentrate on this season and making sure we stay in the Premier League. If we can do that then I’m sure we can secure his future at QPR.”

QPR make the short trip to Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Boxing Day.
