Super Eagles defender Efe Ambrose may as well be considering life away from Glasgow as fans of his Scottish club, Celtic FC have launched an online attack on the Nigerian star.
Ambrose has earned for himself ‘Public Enemy No.1’ tag among the Hoops’ faithful having collected back-to-back red cards in games against Tottenham Hotspurs over the weekend and last week in the first leg Champions League qualifier against Legia Warsaw.
Blamed for his club’s woe a horde of diatribe is now rolling against Ambrose in Celtic’s fanzone.
First out was Pat Thompson, who wrote: “There’s light at the end of the tunnel. Celtic have a real chance of a fightback on Wednesday without Ambrose in the side because the Nigerian is nothing more than a liability.”
In a similar entry, James Jones from Royston stated: “How many more times can Ambrose cock-up in before he’s shown the door?
“Neil Lennon found that out to his cost when Ambrose blew the Champions League last 16 tie against Juventus at home in jig time a couple of seasons ago. It has to be the end of the road for the Nigerian at Celtic because he’s absolutely brutal.”
On his part, Ian Johnstone of Edinburgh added: “Efe Ambrose should change his name to Effin Useless. He’s the worst central defender I have seen at Celtic Park since Willie Garner scored two own goals on his debut – and that’s saying something.”
Wrapping up the scorn was Paul Bryceland from Hamilton, who averred: “Ambrose is one of the game’s great thinkers. He thinks he’s a player.”
While Ambrose may have suddenly become unpopular amongst fans, he is nonetheless attracting interests from other clubs amongst which is EPL new boys Burnley.
