Carlos Tevez – Munich and beyond.

Almost a year after being accused of refusing tocome off the bench in Munich, Tevez is banging in the goals for Man City at the start of the new season. How times change, from being told he’ll never get to play for City again he’s wanting to sign a five year contract extension. This weekend Tevez scored his 100th Premier League goal at Anfield, after a defensive error from Skrtel which was pounced on by the Argentine, who rounded the keeper and slottted it into the open net. This had come after a goal in the opening game against Southampton and a cracker vs Chelsea in the Community Shield. He is certainly ready to start hitting form again and it was needed that he took his chances with Sergio Aguero, still out injured. It will be great when Aguero is back playing for City after the international break, because he and Tevez are building such a great partnership and it will only get better with Tevez hitting form. Tevez signed in 2009 and scored a impressive 43 goals in twoPremier League seasons (09/10 – 10/11). But after rumours linking him away from the club, and also the signing of Sergio Aguero, Tevez started the 2011/12 season on the bench. With City losing 2-0 against Bayern Munich in September Tevez was called to warm up but refused, despite persuasion from David Platt and fellow countryman Pablo Zabaleta. We’ll never know what really happened in that night in Munich.
He then jetted off to Argentina and that’s where he stayed for quite a long time. He was photographed playing golf, and later on that season he showed off his swing at Carrow Road against Norwich. Mancini was saying “If he apologises for his actions he can maybe play again for Manchester City”. In Febuary he mustered up an apology but didn’t make his reappearance till March, coming on as a sub against Chelsea and assisting Samir Nasri who scored the winning goal in a 2-1 victory. Most fans were happy to see him back, but some of our supporters, especially our older fans, could not forgive him. In April Mancini gave Tevez a place in the starting line up against West Brom, after some poor results, and he scored in a 4-0 victory. Later in April Tevez bagged a hat-trick against Norwich with a performance that left most fans thinking how different it would of been if he had been there to play like that the whole season. He played his part in the decidinggames but there would be no more goals in the last few matches. He now has another Premier League winners medal to his name, this time at City and most fans, and maybe even Mancini, have almost forgiven him for his attitude for most of last season.
In believe it was right to allow him to play again, the biggest “sorry” he could give would be to start scoring again for Man City. And after a brilliant pre-season, at the start of the new campaign he has already scored two goals in two matches with hard-working performances inboth. He looks fit and ready to replicate, or maybe even better, the form he showed in his first two seasons at City. It is great to see and I can’t wait to watch him throughout the season. Iam predicting he’ll have a great year, and mighteven challenge for the Golden Boot. Carlos has the ability to be one of the world’s best strikers and alongside Aguero you never know what he’llbe able to achieve.
To score a century of Prem goals is quite an achivement, so well done Carlos and good luck this season!
