Sunday was a day to remember for the Benfica supporters as Bruno Lage’s side pulled off an incredible 10-0 victory over Nacional to move within one point of leaders Porto.
Benfica, set the tone in the opening minute with a goal courtesy of Alex Grimaldo. Haris Seferovic scored a brace ending the half with a comfortable 3-0 lead.
Jonas’ last-minute goal, his second of the game, made it 10-0 after strikes from Joao Felix, Pizzi, Ferro, Ruben Dias, Jonas and Rafa Silva.
It is the biggest margin of victory in a Primeira Liga match since Benfica themselves won 10-0 against Seixal in 1964.
However, they were six goals short of beating their own club record victory, which was a 15-0 win over Lisboa FC way back in 1911.
