Barca, Real, Valencia And Betis All Through To Copa Del Ray Semifinals

Barcelonas’ bid to win Copa Del Rey for the record fifth straight year was kept alive after the Messi led side overturned a first leg deficit as they shellacked Sevilla 6-1 to advance to the semi’s.

After Éver Banega had missed a golden opportunity from the spot with Sevilla 1-0 down to Philippe Coutinho’s early opener, goals by Ivan Rakitic and Sergi Roberto, either side of a second for Coutinho, looked to have put Barça out of sight.

However, Guilherme Arana’s fine 67th-minute finish then brought Sevilla back to within a goal of progressing and set up a frantic that remained unresolved right until Luis Suárez and Lionel Messi killed off the visitors’ challenge and sealed a 6-3 aggregate win for the holders.

Elsewhere, Real Betis beat Espanyol 3-1 after extra-time to go through 4-2 on aggregate.

Valencia‘s Rodrigo scored twice in stoppage time, completing a hat-trick in the process, as Valencia came from behind in dramatic fashion to beat Getafe and advance to the Copa del Rey semifinals.

Real Madrid also progressed to the Semi Finals of the competition as they came from behind to see of the threats of Girona.

Ramos twice gave Madrid the lead against a gritty Girona team that had opened the scoring less than 10 minute into the match at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

A late goal by Karim Benzema gave the hosts a two-goal advantage ahead of the second leg next week at Girona, which is trying to pull off another Copa upset after eliminating Atletico Madrid in the round of 16.
