Tottenham winger Gareth Bale has been named Player of the Year by Barclays, title sponsor of the Premier League.Bale

The Welshman had already scooped Player of the Year recognition from the Football Writers’ Association and the Professional Footballers’ Association – also winning the Young Player of the Year award from the latter organisation.

And, after coming out on top in a poll voted for by fans and media, Bale has now also been recognised by Barclays.
The 23-year-old has scored 20 goals in 32 league appearances this term to ensure that Spurs’ bid for a top-four finish will go to the final day of the season.
Retiring Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson came out on top in the Manager of the Year category, after his side regained the Premier League title at a canter.
United claimed the trophy with four league fixtures remaining, a feat which ensured the Scot was handed the award for a record 11th time.
