Algeria are the highest ranked CAF nation in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday, after the conclusion of the World Cup.

The Desert Foxes made a historical journey to the last 16 in Brazil, in what was their fourth appearance at the football showpiece.

Their performance saw them eclipse Ivory Coast as Africa’s number-one ranked side, but somehow dropped two places to 24th in the global standings.

Nigeria, who also progressed past the group stages in South America, moved up 10 places to 34th position in the world and third in the CAF standings.

Kenya broke into the top 100 in the world after gaining 13 place to move up to 95th place. They also moved into the top 25 in Africa where they occupy 24th.
