Alexander Buttner on his way to Turkey as Besiktas plot loan swoop

Besiktas hope to sign Manchester United left-back Alexander Buttner on loan by the end of the week.

United manager David Moyes is ready to keep Patrice Evra at Old Trafford even if he is successful in signing Everton’s Leighton Baines.

Benfica had also shown interest in Buttner but have since dropped out of a move for the 24-year-old Dutch under 21 international.

‘During the [friendly] match against Sevilla in the past weekend, interest was expressed,’ Buttner’s agent Aleksander Bursac told┬áRenascenca Radio.

‘He put in a good performance. There was interest from Benfica to sign a defender, but that news is already history.

Bit-part: Buttner made 13 appearances for United last season, five of which were in the league

‘Two days later, Benfica confirmed to me that they would keep the two left-backs [Melgarejo & Cortez] that they have left the squad.

‘I am currently negotiating with Besiktas, but with Benfica? No. Benfica showed interest and then gave up.’
