Manchester City assistant manager Ruben Cousillas has played down fears that Sergio Aguero has aggravated his hamstring injury.
The Argentina international has started just 15 of City’s 26 league matches this term as a result of hamstring and calf injuries.
The striker was forced off at half-time of the Citizen’s Champions League defeat to Barcelona on Wednesday, prompting speculation e has suffered a further setback.
However, Cousillas insists the decision to replace Aguero was primarily a precautionary measure.
“We don’t think it’s anything serious. He felt some muscle pain but it was more a precaution than anything else,” he said.
“It’s too early to know how long he’ll be out. We’ll do some tests to assess the injury.”
City lost the second leg of their last-16 tie 2-1, resulting in a 4-1 aggregate defeat.
