Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has revealed that he will not be fit to feature in Argentina’s opening round of World Cup qualifying clashes.
The 24-year-old has not featured since picking up a knee injury in City’s opening Premier League clash with Southampton and had been called up for the Albiceleste’s matches with Paraguay and Peru, to Roberto Mancini’s dismay.
Posting on the social networking website Twitter, Aguero confirmed that he has not managed to shake off his knock in time to feature for his country.
He wrote: “It seems I won’t be able to make it to the Peru match – but the effort was still worth it, I’ll continue the recovery work at Manchester.
“Rooting for to the guys for the Peru match, I hope I can join them next time. Returning to @MCFC now to ready for the upcoming challenge.”
