Nigeria’s midfield maestro, Wilfred Ndidi, has seen a significant dip in his market value after enduring a challenging 2022/2023 season with Leicester City.

Ndidi’s descent comes as a shock, considering his previous status as one of the most coveted midfielders in the world of football.

Hailing from KRC Genk in the Belgian Pro League, Ndidi joined Leicester City a few seasons ago, tasked with filling the void left by the departure of N’golo Kante to Chelsea in 2017.

With the support of his compatriot Kelechi Iheanacho, Ndidi swiftly assimilated into the team’s starting lineup.

In seasons past, he played a crucial role in Leicester City’s midfield, contributing to their victories and hard-fought draws.

His versatility and combative style aided the Foxes in qualifying for a UEFA competition during the 2021/2022 season.

Regrettably, the previous season proved to be an uphill battle for Ndidi. He spent most of his time on the bench and endured a potentially career-threatening injury that kept him sidelined for weeks.

However, displaying remarkable resilience, he made a triumphant comeback and featured in 27 matches for Leicester City.

Despite Ndidi’s return, Leicester City faced relegation to the English Skybet Championship, resulting in his market value, as evaluated by Transfermarkt, plummeting from €60M to €25M.

With just one year left on his contract, Ndidi may opt to see it through at the King Power Stadium before potentially departing as a free agent.

Reports from Scotland indicate that Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, who previously worked with Ndidi at Leicester City, is keen on reuniting with the Super Eagles midfielder.

Their successful partnership in the past raises expectations for a fruitful reunion, but Celtic would need to meet the club’s asking price to pursue the proposal.

Additionally, Turkish champions Galatasary SK have also shown interest in acquiring the services of the Nigerian playmaker.

As the 26-year-old ponders his next move, potential reunions with Brendan Rodgers at Celtic or a move to Galatasary may present fresh opportunities for Ndidi to revive his career and continue showcasing his exceptional abilities on the football field.
