Victor Moses kicked off the 2023/24 campaign in flying colors, scoring a crucial goal that helped Spartak Moscow secure a win to start the season.

The ex-Super Eagles winger delivered the season opener for his team, leading them to a narrow victory over Orenburg in the Russian Premier League on Sunday.

During the first half, both teams battled for supremacy at the Otkritie Arena, but it only took a few seconds before the interval for the home team to take the lead, with Victor Moses coming through for the host.

In the second half, the home fans were stunned as the visitors scored twice to grab the lead.

Dmitriy Vorobyov found the equalizer just five minutes into the second half, followed by Gabriel Florentín doubling their lead 17 minutes later.

However, Spartak Moscow didn’t give up, and a late double from Daniil Khlusevich turned the tide, leading them to a remarkable comeback and a well-deserved victory, earning them three crucial points after the final whistle.

After the game, the 32-year-old Nigerian, filled with joy over the narrow win and his first goal of the season, took to his Twitter page to praise the team’s success, stating;

Big win today, great team performance, and nice to get on the scoresheet for the first game of the season.”

With this victory, Spartak Moscow secures fourth place in the new campaign, while the visiting team drops to 10th place.

The Nigerian International, Victor Moses, and his teammates are not resting on their laurels as they continue their journey in the Russia Cup on Thursday, where they will be battling Krasnodar for further success.
