The 2022/23 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) season concluded with Delta Queens emerging as the champions after an exciting 2-1 victory over Bayelsa Queens.
The eagerly awaited Women’s Super Six playoffs took place at the Stephen Keshi stadium in Asaba, Delta, on June 11.
In the 14th minute, Chisom Henry of Bayelsa Queens accidentally scored an own goal, giving them a 1-0 lead that lasted throughout the first half.
In the 67th minute, Delta Queens’ Chinaza Agoh impressively equalized with an acrobatic kick.

Agoh completed her brace in the 86th minute, securing the league title for Delta Queens, who are based in Asaba.
Along with the victory, they also received the prestigious N10 million prize money. As champions, they will represent Nigeria in the upcoming WAFU B Women’s CAF Champions League qualifier later this year.
The regional Champions League qualifiers will determine the two finalists who will advance to the main tournament of the CAF Champions League.
Furthermore, Delta Queens had a strong presence in the individual awards. Abderline Ngbechi was named the Best Goalkeeper, Mercy Omokwo received the Golden Boot for scoring 9 goals, and Agoh Chinaza was recognized as the MVP of the final.
